Occidental College conferred nearly 390 degrees at commencement ceremonies Sunday in the Remsen Bird Hillside Theater on campus.
Dr. Robert A. Skotheim, director of the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, delivered the keynote address. He urged the graduates “to continue participating in the life of this college. . . . You will benefit if Occidental College is a continually improving institution. As alumni, you can contribute to that improvement in a myriad of ways. But today you can rest content in celebration. Congratulations.”

Loma Linda University held five commencements for its various schools over a four-day period that began Thursday night with a ceremony for the Graduate School, which conferred degrees on 69 students. The School of Nursing awarded nearly 60 degrees at its ceremony Friday morning in the University Church. Friday afternoon, the School of Public Health awarded 107 degrees during ceremonies at the Campus Hill Church of Seventh-day Adventists. On Sunday, 215 degrees were awarded to graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Education and School of Business and Management. Also Sunday, the School of Allied Health Professions awarded 117 degrees at its graduation in the University Church.
