Aeroflot Launches ‘Perestroika Perks’: Beckoning U.S. fliers to try friendlier Soviet skies, Aeroflot has introduced “ perestroika perks” as part of an unprecedented advertising campaign by the Soviet national carrier. Aeroflot is pushing for business and first-class fliers to use the Soviet national carrier with offers of free round-trip tickets from Moscow to Kiev or Leningrad, a one-night stay at Moscow’s Ukraine Hotel, limousine rides and a Montblanc pen with which to sign deals with the Russians. The deal is intended to compete with frequent-flyer bonus programs offered by other major airlines.
