A man armed with a semiautomatic pistol held up Home Savings & Loan at 225 N. Tustin St. in Orange Tuesday morning, taking an undisclosed amount of money from four tellers.
The suspect, described as a white male, 6 feet or a little over and weighing 170 to 190 pounds, wore a dark-colored jogging suit and a bandanna that covered part of his face, Police Sgt. Art Romo said.
About 20 customers were in the savings and loan when the suspect entered at about 10 a.m. and announced that it was a robbery, Romo said.
After taking money from the four tellers, the man fled through a rear door and into an apartment complex behind the bank. No one was injured. Romo said witnesses reported that a white vehicle, of undetermined make and model, was parked in the apartment complex parking lot, but police have not yet determined whether it was the getaway vehicle.
