UCLA Women Defeat Colorado State in Volleyball

Top-ranked UCLA, led by sophomore middle blocker Elaine Youngs, defeated Colorado State, 15-8, 15-7, 15-9, late Thursday night at Honolulu in the first round of the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball tournament. Hawaii beat Texas, 15-3, 15-7, 15-8, in the other match.
Youngs had 15 kills and nine digs for the Bruins (2-2). Senior middle blocker Daiva Tomkus had 10 kills, five service aces and four blocks.
UCLA was scheduled to play Hawaii Friday night in the round-robin tournament.
