Two new projects are forthcoming on CBS. Starting tonight, CBS News will replace the nightly one-minute “Presidential Portraits” with short takes on the environment. “Earth Quest” (airing at 9:58 p.m.) will call attention to environmental issues. Additionally, “My Favorite Book,” a pro-literacy campaign, will premiere on CBS next month in conjunction with the “Schoolbreak Specials.” Celebrities such as Barry Bostwick, Pam Dawber, Patrick Duffy, Mariette Hartley, Michael Landon, Howie Mandel, Ron Perlman and Billy Dee Williams will share memories of their favorite books on the minute-long vignettes. The spots, underwritten by the Campbell Soup Co., also will be seen on syndicated shows.
