Agoura 26, Santa Paula 0--Agoura broke open a close game at home by scoring three touchdowns during a 3:44 span in the third quarter.
Agoura (5-1, 1-0), capitalizing on Santa Paula (3-3, 0-1) miscues, began its first three second-half drives from the Cardinals’ 12-, 17- and 43-yard lines. Charger quarterback Josh Smaler threw touchdown passes of five and 20 yards to wide receiver Greg Ochoa and running back Rich Jacobellis scored from two yards on those possessions.
Smaler completed 10 of 13 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns and had one interception.
Agoura capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive with 3:34 left in the second quarter with an 11-yard scoring strike from Smaler to wide receiver David Ashton.
