6th Straight Record High for Japanese Stock Index

TOKYO — Tokyo stocks pushed further into uncharted territory today, as the Nikkei index topped the 37,000 mark in the sixth straight record close.
But the 225-share Nikkei index ended up only 36.16 at 37,021.46 as profit-takers sold into gains, brokers said. The Nikkei had jumped 103.77 points Tuesday. In the last six trading days the market has chalked up 1,127.88 points.
