San Diego Small Schools tournament
Parker 51, Army-Navy 50--Dan Cabban scored 13 of his 14 points in the second half to lead Parker. Teammate Glen Knight had 20 points as did Philip Parks of Army-Navy.
St. Gregory’s (Tucson) 78, La Jolla Country Day 61--St. Gregory’s Donne Clark dominated the game by scoring 20 points, grabbing 17 rebounds and blocking seven shots.
Hilltop Tournament
Ramona 53, Santana 30--Alfonso De La Neuz had a game high 21 points for Ramona in its opening victory (1-0) at Grossmont High. Only five players scored for Santana (0-1). De La Neuz also had four steals and three 3-pointers. Todd Johnson, after only one day of practice, grabbed nine rebounds.
Point Loma 50, Hoover 31--J.J. Stokes scored 21 for the Pointers (1-2). Hoover stayed winless for the tournament.
Kearny 60, Hilltop 56--Tommy Rawlins scored the go-ahead basket for Kearny with 30 seconds to go as Kearny overcame a fourth-quarter eight-point deficit. Rawlins ended with 15 points as did teammate Darnay Scott. Carlos Gonzales had 14 for Hilltop.
Norsemen-Warhawk Tournament
Patrick Henry 60, Lincoln 55--Jason Lonsdale had a game-high 17 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to help keep the Patriots undefeated (4-0). Teammates Danny Kotnik (12) and Ross Edwards (11) also scored in doubles figures. Henry’s 26 point second quarter gave it a 33-27 halftime lead.
Coronado 70, Madison 64--Derek Wastila scored 15 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter as Coronado came from behind and wiped out a seven-point defecit.
Other nonleague games:
San Pasqual 72, Indio 49--For the third time in four games, Bryan Banner scored at least 20 points for San Pasqual (4-0). This time out, the 6-foot-6 senior forward came away with exactly 20. Teammate David Duerrst, a 6-1 sophomore, added 10 points. San Pasqual now heads into the second round of the River/Romona tournament in Riverside against Glendora, the state’s Division II runnerup a year ago.
Lutheran 56, St. Margarets 54--Jeff Hooper poured in 24 points for Lutheran and teammate Steve Hinaman added 10 points and five steals as Lutheran opened its season.
St. Augustine 78, West Hills 37--Bryan Cantwell’s 30 points helped the Saints even its season record (3-3).
