The City Council on Monday appointed a Costa Mesa assistant city attorney as successor to departing City Atty. Joe Pannone.
Eleanor Egan, who has worked in the Costa Mesa city attorney’s office since 1982, was appointed to the $88,000-a-year position effective Feb. 27.
A 1974 graduate of the USC School of Law, Egan has specialized in environmental affairs and land use, contract administration and tort claims for Costa Mesa.
Pannone quit to join a private law firm in November but agreed to work under contract until a successor is in place.
