Litton Unit Wins Big Contract: Beverly Hills-based Litton Industries Inc. reported that its Ingalls Shipbuilding subsidiary has won a $614.2-million contract from the Navy to build three more Arleigh-Burke-class Aegis guided missile destroyers. The award brings to six the number of Aegis destroyers currently contracted to Pascagoula, Miss.-based Ingalls. The Aegis destroyers will be 504 feet long, with a beam of 59 feet. Four jet engines will propel the 8,300-ton ships at speeds faster than 30 knots.
