California IN BRIEF : HAYWARD : President Named at Cal State Campus

Norma S. Rees, a higher education official in Massachusetts, was chosen to be the new president of Cal State Hayward. Rees will replace Ellis McCune, who is retiring after heading the 12,825-student Northern California school for 23 years. Rees has been a vice chancellor for the Massachusetts Board of Regents of Higher Education since 1987. There are two other women presidents in the 20-campus Cal State system, Gail Fullerton at San Jose and Jewel Plummer Cobb at Fullerton.
