Ethics of Hollywood

Concerning Jack Mathews’ April 22 cover story, “The Ethics of Hollywood”: When I moved here three years ago from Texas to make it as a screenwriter in the glitter capital, I had already been screwed on one deal by a Texas producer. So my initiation had already started, and I had no illusions about the ethical labyrinth that lay before me.
But I decided I would not compromise myself or be drawn into a situation that probably would. I’ve stuck to my guns, although it’s been frustrating.
I feel sorry for those think success can be measured by deals, cash or fame. And to all those straight shooters in positions of power: Stand up and be counted. We need your leadership. We need to see your lights.
