A fire heavily damaged a spacious home in Woodland Hills this morning, causing an estimated $500,000 in damages but leaving residents unharmed, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. One firefighter was treated for exhaustion.
The fire was reported at 4:22 a.m. in the two-story, 4,500-square-foot home in the 4400 block of Da Vinci Avenue, just south of Mulholland Drive, Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. Wells said an unknown number of residents escaped uninjured from the home.
Investigators believe the fire started in the garage and then spread through the attic. The cause of the fire is not known and is under investigation, Wells said.
It took firefighters an hour to extinguish the flames.
