A man shot and wounded in the second violent confrontation aboard a BART train in less than a week was in serious condition, authorities said. Jason Spain, 19, of Hayward underwent surgery after being shot in the stomach, said Thomas McGarry, a spokesman at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. A train operator reported loud voices and a fistfight involving six men on the northbound train approaching the San Leandro station, BART spokesman Sy Mouber said. Spain was shot as the train pulled into the station, Mouber said. The incident came only days after the first fatality aboard a BART train. Last weekend, Daniel Kirby, 36, was fatally stabbed near Berkeley’s Ashby station.
