Shots were fired at the storefront campaign office of a Republican congressional candidate, showering an aide with shards of glass, but no one was hurt in the incident. Ray Sullivan, an aide to Robert L. Hammock, a San Bernardino County supervisor, said two shots were fired, possibly from a passing car, at the campaign office’s window. He was hit by bits of glass but was unhurt. Several nearby businesses in the South E Street neighborhood also were fired on, said police, who added that they know no motive for the shootings. Hammock faces George E. Brown Jr. (D-Riverside) in the Nov. 6 general election.
