Woman, 45, Killed When Car Hits Pole

A 45-year-old woman was killed Wednesday when her car smashed into a telephone pole on Silverado Canyon Road near Mission Viejo, the California Highway Patrol said.
Melody Lane, a resident of Silverado Canyon, suffered massive internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics after the 8:20 a.m. accident, CHP spokeswoman Linda Burrus said.
Lane apparently was driving west on Silverado Canyon Road just east of Santiago Canyon Road when she “lost control of her Dodge Shadow and hit a telephone pole on the dirt shoulder of the road,” Burrus said.
