No Overnight News for ABC: ABC is putting its plans for a new overnight newscast on hold. The network, which announced the new venture only a few weeks ago, has sent a letter to its affiliates saying it is not going ahead now with the planned five-hour (1-6 a.m.) newscast, due to start in January. ABC says it wants to do the show in the future, but, with advertising revenue down in network TV, the timing was not right for an expensive start-up.
