ANAHEIM : Residents’ Group Endorses Simpson

The Anaheim Neighborhood Assn., one of the city’s largest residents’ groups, has endorsed former City Manager Bob Simpson for City Council.
The group did not interview any of the other six candidates in making its choice for the Nov. 6 election.
“We looked for people we know believed in the things we believe in,” said Keith B. Olesen, chairman of the 2,500-member group.
The association represents residents living in central and downtown Anaheim and is concerned primarily about neighborhood preservation and crime in the area. The group opposes building large apartment complexes that would increase the density of neighborhoods filled mainly with older homes.
The association earlier endorsed Mayor Fred Hunter in his bid for reelection.
