Santa Paula 31, Santa Clara 28--Linebacker Art Marcelo intercepted a Chris Macias pass on the Cardinal three-yard line with 25 seconds to play, preserving the win at Santa Paula.
Marcelo also was on the receiving end of a four-yard scoring pass from Ben Fausset, their second touchdown connection, to give Santa Paula (6-2, 3-0) the lead for good with 2:35 to play.
Fausset completed 14 of 27 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns with an interception as Santa Paula remained alone in first place.
