Darrell Waltrip, for years the man fans loved to hate, has won the National Motorsports Press Assn. Most Popular Driver Award for the second straight year. The 43-year-old Waltrip finished with a record-breaking 84,046 votes from NASCAR fans. Dale Earnhardt, the 1990 Winston Cup champion, finished second with 72,758 and Bill Elliott was third with 69,475.
