Holtz Deserves Credit for Strategy Vs. USC

This guy Sidney Baker, Los Angeles (Viewpoint, Dec. 1) must have been Christmas shopping at the mall during the USC-Notre Dame game to downplay Larry Smith’s strategy instead of complimenting Lou Holtz’s game plan of defending against the bomb and giving the Trojans the short passes. How does he think Todd Marinovich is credited with so many pass completions? And calling the Irish “overrated,” evidently this “fan” has never checked the Notre Dame schedule.
