Police believe a bandit who robbed the HomeFed Bank near the Sports Arena was the same man who robbed four other San Diego banks in the past month.
The bandit, wearing an Oakland Athletics baseball cap, entered the bank on Sports Arena Boulevard about 10:40 a.m. Monday and handed the teller a note saying he had a gun, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
The bandit fled on foot with about $2,000.
Two robberies Friday were believed to have been committed by the same bandit, Robinson said. Wearing an Oakland Athletics baseball cap, a man robbed two banks with 40 minutes and escaped with $1,300.
