OJAI : Council to Consider Bus, Trolley Changes
- Share via
The Ojai City Council tonight will consider several proposals to improve bus and trolley service this summer.
To increase ridership on the inner-city Ojai trolley, city staff has recommended that fares be slashed to 25 cents per ride and that the trolley run seven days a week instead of six. Wednesday service would be added.
The council will consider scheduling a public hearing to adopt the changes by July 1. Current trolley fares are 75 cents for adults, 60 cents for children and 30 cents for senior citizens.
Improvements to the South Coast Area Transit bus service between Ojai and Ventura are recommended to take effect in August. The transit board will consider adopting them after a public hearing March 6.
A proposed express bus for commuters would run weekdays between Ojai and the Buenaventura Mall in Ventura. The route would have limited stops in Oak View and Casitas Springs and on Main Street and Seaward Avenue.
The council will also consider spending $5,000 to promote the transit services available in the Ojai Valley as part of the city’s efforts to reduce traffic congestion.
