DID YA HEAR THE ONE . . . : Rep. William E. Dannemeyer managed to get his audience’s attention at the state Republican convention in Sacramento this weekend with the announcement: “I don’t know if you’ve heard this yet, but the bombing in Iraq has stopped.” The party faithful gasped and murmured. The Fullerton congressman continued: “They found a spotted owl.” . . . The joke got big yuks. Enough so that Dannemeyer told it a dozen times.
