Mast Tumbles Down on One of Italian Syndicate’s Boats
- Share via
The mast broke on one of Italy’s two America’s Cup boats as the crew sailed off San Diego on Thursday.
The skipper was John Kolius, an American working for the Il Moro di Venezia syndicate to sail the “trial horse” boat against skipper Paul Cayard’s primary boat.
The incident was not expected to be a serious setback for Il Moro, which has three boats and the greatest resources of the syndicates. Il Moro has two boats entered in the first International America’s Cup World Championship at San Diego, May 4-11.
