Facing possibly severe cutbacks in state education spending, the Placentia Unified school board has scheduled a public hearing to discuss the district’s proposed 1991-92 budget, which must be adopted by July 1.
The hearing will be at 7:30 p.m. May 21 at the district headquarters, 1301 E. Orangethorpe Ave. School administrators and trustees are scheduled to attend.
Officials recently issued preliminary layoff notices to eliminate 141 positions, including school counselors, assistant principals, nurses, and elementary music and physical education instructors.
