A 44-year-old woman was killed Monday morning in a head-on crash in Dehesa, authorities said.
Diane Margaret McGlaughlin of El Cajon was driving east on Dehesa Road, about a quarter mile west of Sloane Canyon Road, at 12:05 a.m. when she was hit by a westbound car driven by Gilbert A. Reif. Reif of El Cajon, who is in his 20s, reportedly crossed the double yellow lines in an attempt to pass a car in front of him, California Highway Patrol Officer Bob Melton said.
McGlaughlin died at the scene, said Bill Leard, a medical examiner investigator.
Reif was in good condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said, with cuts on his head, face and hand.
Authorities were investigating the accident Monday and had not decided whether to charge Reif, Melton said.
