* The Tehachapi Mountain Festival gets under way Friday at 4 p.m. with a pet parade and barbecue at the Rodeo Grounds, Dennison Road and Tehachapi. Saturday events begin with 1-mile, 5K and 10K races. Registration 6:30-7:45 a.m. Followed by parade and a pancake breakfast. Western dance Saturday 9 p.m. Saturday-Sunday: art fair, entertainment, pony rides, petting zoo, Western shoot-out and a rodeo, 2 p.m. both days ($7; seniors, children $5.50). (805) 822-4180.
