Video Rental Chart : ‘Sleeping’ on Top for 3rd Week
- Share via
“Sleeping With the Enemy,” the No. 1 rental for the third straight week, looks strong enough to hang on to the top spot of the Billboard magazine chart for another two weeks, when “Home Alone”--the hottest rental title since “Ghost”--will likely take over. “Sleeping,” however, is getting a strong challenge from two hot newcomers--”Awakenings” (No. 2) and “New Jack City” (No. 3). “Lonesome Dove,” the home-video version of the acclaimed TV miniseries starring Robert Duvall, is doing well (No. 32) in the rental market.
Debuts: “He Said, She Said,” a romantic comedy starring Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth Perkins, entered at No. 19, while “Scenes From a Mall,” the comedy-drama featuring Woody Allen and Bette Midler, hit the chart at No. 22.
* “King Ralph,” starring John Goodman as a Las Vegas lounge singer who becomes a king, did good box-office business--$32.5 million. On the rental chart, it jumped five places to No. 8.
