Misuse of Trade Secrets

Why do the media only react to a “ludicrous and massive invasion of privacy” when the media are the perceived victims? The government is able to intrude massively on all citizens and in all aspects of our lives. It can obtain all of our telephone records (showing with whom we communicate) and even our bank records (showing every penny we spend by check or credit card). The government cannot only obtain our bank records, but order the bank not to tell us it has them. Our rights to privacy have been eroded steadily over the last decade, and in the main, the media have remained silent. If the media do not focus greater attention on this issue, the time well may come when there is no one left to speak for the rights of the media.
