Concern Voiced for Journalists in China

LONDON — Britain expressed its concern to Chinese authorities in London and Beijing about the treatment of foreign correspondents in China after a British reporter was expelled, a Foreign Office spokesman said Friday.
He said the case of Andrew Higgins, a correspondent for The Independent newspaper, triggered messages of concern about the treatment of foreign journalists in China generally. Higgins was told Sept. 13 that he had two days to leave China.
