Disney Hall: ‘Work of Art’ or Wet Cardboard?
I would like to take exception to Whiteson’s critique. This building had to have been designed as a joke. It resembles a wet cardboard box that’s been outside too long. If there was an earthquake, it looks structurally lacking.
The design does make a statement but to me, it’s not “WOW, look at that,” but “Look at that! (and laugh).”
The emperor has no clothes and you don’t say no to a $50-million gift.
Los Angeles will now have an icon. And with that, I would like to express my condolences and one healthy horse laugh.
