Rookie defensive tackle Robert Young was excused from Monday’s practice because he had not returned from the funeral of his roommate at Mississippi State last season, nose tackle Rodney Stowers, who died Thursday of a lung hemorrhage.
Also excused for other personal reasons were cornerback Darryl Henley, fullback Mosi Tatupu, tackles Gerald Perry and Jackie Slater and running back Marcus Dupree.
