NHL ROUNDUP : Sharks Win First Game on Late Goal

The San Jose Sharks, the NHL’s newest franchise, got their first victory Tuesday night when Kelly Kisio scored the winning goal with 3:15 left to defeat the Calgary Flames, 4-3, in San Jose.
The Sharks took a 3-2 lead on Craig Cox’s goal in the third period, but Gary Roberts tied it for the Flames until Kisio’s game-winner.
Vancouver 3, Winnipeg 2--Geoff Courtnall’s goal at 3:36 of overtime lifted the unbeaten Canucks to their third victory in a row before 8,689 fans, the Jets’ smallest crowd since joining the NHL in 1979.
New Jersey 6, Quebec 5--The Devils won for the third consecutive time, matching the best start in franchise history, as Pat Conacher and Scott Stevens scored 1:38 apart late in the third period to beat the Nordiques at New Jersey.
Montreal 2, Hartford 2--Mark Hunter and Rob Brown scored power-play goals in the second period at Hartford to help the Whalers earn a tie in their home opener.
The Canadiens took a 2-0 first-period lead on goals by Kirk Muller and Russ Courtnall.
