Louisiana gubernatorial candidate and former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke is not a Republican and the Bush Administration will not endorse him, White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said. Neither will President Bush support Edwin W. Edwards, the liberal Democratic ex-governor who led his state’s open primary with 34% of the vote. “We’d like them both to lose and (GOP Gov.) Buddy Roemer to win on a write-in,” Fitzwater said of the returns, which put Duke and Edwards in a runoff Nov. 16.
