OXNARD : City Reaches Deal on Shopping Center
- Share via
Oxnard officials have struck a tentative agreement to bring a Walmart department store and a Sam’s Club membership discount store to a shopping center to be built in the city’s freeway corridor.
The two stores would be part of a 560,000-square-foot shopping center that would occupy a 55-acre site at Rose Avenue and the Ventura Freeway, officials said Friday. The project is to be built by Rothbart Development Corp. of Sherman Oaks.
As part of the agreement--which the Oxnard City Council will consider Tuesday--the developer and the store owner would be allowed to spread payment of $3 million in city fees over 10 years.
City officials anticipate that the shopping center will generate $25 million to $35 million in sales tax revenue over the next decade.
