Redondo-Catalina Shuttle Ended

Catalina Express has decided to end its shuttle service between Redondo Beach and Santa Catalina Island because of lagging ridership.
The 3-year-old operation was not making a profit even though it limited service to the summer months, officials said. The company will continue its Catalina-bound shuttles that leave from San Pedro and Long Beach.
The Redondo Beach service drew far fewer passengers than the two other sites and used smaller, slower boats to cross the channel. City officials said limited parking at the Redondo Beach Marina contributed to the shuttle’s difficulties.
