An 81-year-old Camarillo woman died and her husband was seriously injured Thursday when their car collided with another car on 5th Street in Camarillo, authorities said.
Mary Manzella was pronounced dead at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard about an hour after the 11:41 a.m. accident, Deputy Coroner Jim Wingate said.
The accident occurred when Anthony C. Manzella, 84, tried to turn north on Las Posas Road from the eastbound lane of 5th Street in front of an oncoming car, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Yosuf F. Homayun, 34, of Thousand Oaks was driving west on 5th Street when his car struck the Manzella car broadside, hitting the passenger side where Mary Manzella was sitting, the CHP reported.
Homayun received minor injuries. He was taken to Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, where he was treated and later released.
Anthony Manzella was also taken to Pleasant Valley Hospital, where a nursing supervisor said he was being treated for multiple fractures Thursday evening.
A passenger with Homayun was not injured, the CHP said.
