PREP ROUNDUP : Edison Rallies for Girls’ Soccer Victory

The Edison girls’ soccer team, ranked fourth in the Southern Section Division 4-A, rallied to defeat unranked Fountain Valley, 3-2, in a Sunset League match Thursday at Edison.
Trailing, 2-1, late in the second half, Jennifer Lachman scored twice to give Edison (10-4-4, 2-0 in the Sunset League) the victory.
Lachman tied the score, 2-2, with 15 minutes remaining and then scored another with 12 minutes left. Jennifer Crispin gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead, but Danielle Carvin and Josalyn Greenly each scored to give Fountain Valley (8-4-5, 1-1) a 2-1 lead at the half.
In another Sunset League girls’ soccer match:
Ocean View 4, Westminster 0--Kim Engesser had three goals for host Ocean View.
In Angelus League girls’ soccer:
Santa Margarita 4, Bishop Amat 0--Jamie Braun had three goals and Erica De Vitis added another for host Santa Margarita (6-7-3, 1-2).
Rosary 3, St. Joseph 2--Erin Fortini and Andrea Barclay scored second-half goals to give Rosary (7-3-3, 2-1) a 3-1 lead.
In Century League girls’ soccer:
Canyon 4, Foothill 0--Kim Campbell scored in each half and Krista Broughton and Ingrid Anderson added second-half goals as the Comanches won at home.
Tina Thompson made seven saves to post her ninth shutout of the season.
Orange 7, Santa Ana Valley 0--Rebecca Comstock made two saves in the first half, then moved out to the field in the second half to score a goal as the Panthers improved to 5-6-2, 1-1-1.
In Empire League girls’ soccer:
Los Alamitos 3, Cypress 1--Brandie Hayungs scored two goals in the second half for Los Alamitos (8-4-3, 3-0) and Brooke Davis added another for the Griffins. Michelle Adney scored for Cypress.
Loara 2, Katella 0--Jennifer Delekoy and Anna Klein scored second-half goals for Loara (12-1).
In Freeway League girls’ soccer:
Fullerton 5, Sonora 1--Mindy Nelson had two goals and two assists and Deborah Hargrave had two goals as the Indians (4-8-3, 2-1) won at home. Lisa Knott scored for Sonora (4-3-4, 0-2-1).
Sunny Hills 4, Troy 0--Rhonda Partida scored two goals and Heidi Gugler and Stacy Thurber had one goal apiece for Sunny Hills (11-1-0, 3-0) in a Freeway League match.
In Garden Grove League girls’ soccer:
Kennedy 8, La Quinta 0--Lori Van Herk and Rachelle Darin each scored two goals for the visiting Fighting Irish (9-3-2, 6-0).
Garden Grove 2, Bolsa Grande 1--Stephanie Meehan scored a goal in each half for Garden Grove (4-7-3, 1-2).
In Olympic League girls’ soccer:
Orange Lutheran 4, Whittier Christian 2--Kristina Riedmann scored in the second half to give Orange Lutheran (5-5, 2-2) a 3-2 lead. Shawnna Johnson scored two goals in the second half, including the match-tying goal 15 seconds into the half, for the Lancers.
In Orange League girls’ soccer:
Valencia 2, Magnolia 0--Judy Hlavac and Jill Fancher each scored and Cherie Jacques and Michele Lytle each had assists for Valencia (3-5-4, 1-0-1).
In Pacific Coast League girls’ soccer:
Trabuco Hills 2, Laguna Beach 1--Lindsay Rogers and Ali Lehman each scored a first-half goal for Trabuco Hills (15-2-2, 3-0) at Laguna Beach (3-5-2, 0-2-1).
In Sea View League girls’ soccer:
Corona del Mar 6, Saddleback 0--Lisa Boatman and Stefanie Hughes each scored two goals for the Sea Kings (6-3-2, 2-0), who led, 4-0, at the half.
University 1, Tustin 1--Jennie Julian headed in Jessica Monty’s corner kick with 10 minutes left to give the host Tillers (2-9-1, 0-1-1) the tie.
University (5-6-3, 1-0-1) scored in the first half when a backward pass by Tustin’s Suzie Webster got past goalie Nikki McCuistion.
Woodbridge 3, Newport Harbor 0--Talia Emery scored two goals and assisted on a goal by Morgan Bannister as the host Warriors (6-5, 2-0) took a 3-0 halftime lead.
In South Coast League girls’ soccer:
El Toro 2, Capistrano Valley 1--Denise Kenyon scored the winning goal with 11 minutes to play as the Chargers improved to 16-2, 3-0.
El Toro’s Kim Henry opened the scoring in the first half. Monika Larsson tied the score for Capistrano Valley (11-3-3, 1-2) in the second half.
In Sunset League field hockey:
Edison 2, Santiago 0--Stephanie Miller scored two goals in the first half to lead Edison (7-0 in league) at Santiago.
