2 Simi Valley High, Royal High Linemen Commit to Universities

Simi Valley High’s Kirk Robertson and Royal’s Jason Wendland, both offensive linemen, made oral commitments to play football for Division I schools this fall.
Robertson (6-foot-4, 270 pounds), who plans to major in pre-med, gave an oral commitment this week to play at Arizona State.
“I liked the academic support and the program itself,” Robertson said.
Robertson also made recruiting trips to UC Berkeley, University of Wisconsin and Northwestern University. Robertson canceled trips to Colorado and Washington State.
Wendland, a 6-5, 260-pound tackle, chose Northwestern after visiting the university two weeks ago. Wendland, who was also recruited by Colorado State, canceled recruiting trips to California and Arizona State.
“(Northwestern) has an all-new coaching staff,” Wendland said. “They’re hungry and that’s what I like.”
Robertson and Wendland were both all-Marmonte League offensive linemen last season.
