Man Dies After Car Strikes Him in Laguna

LAGUNA BEACH — A man who staggered into the street and was struck by a passing car died a short time later at a hospital, police said Thursday.
Witnesses told police that Albert A. Wilisch, 57, stumbled into the northbound lanes of Glenneyre Street between Cleo Street and St. Ann’s Drive early Wednesday evening. He then reportedly continued into the southbound lane of Glenneyre Street, where a car hit him, Hall said.
Police did not cite the driver.
Wilisch died at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, Sgt. Mike Hall said.
Wilisch was a transient who lived in the Laguna Beach area, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
Wilisch died of massive head trauma, according to a coroner’s deputy. Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology tests.
