Unorthodox Move: Abercrombie & Fitch, one of the best-known names in sportswear, is moving its South Coast Plaza store to Crystal Court next month.
For most retailers, the goal is to move the other way--from Crystal Court east to South Coast Plaza. Abercrombie says it is moving from South Coast, the mall of enviable sales figures, to Crystal Court, whose revenue pales by comparison, to get more floor space. The store will be on Crystal Court’s second floor, near the Broadway.
“We expect this new store to be one of the most prominent in our chain,” said Patty Charles, Abercrombie’s marketing director. The store is the 42nd in the chain, which is owned by the Limited.
