World IN BRIEF : CHINA : Reporter’s Case Appears Closed

Security police accused the Washington Post’s Beijing correspondent of illegally obtaining secret documents but apparently closed their investigation of her. The accusation against Lena Sun was the latest in a series of recent government moves against foreign journalists, whom it regards as potential spies and purveyors of Western democratic ideas. But the New China News Agency report of the accusation did not say that the investigation was continuing, as it had Tuesday, indicating that the case was closed.
