In other NBA news, the Minnesota Timberwolves signed Gundars Vetra, a 6-6 guard-forward from the Commonwealth of Independent States. Vetra, 25, is on the CIS team participating in the European basketball Olympic qualifying tournament in Zaragoza, Spain. He averaged 28.6 points in 32 minutes a game and was named the most valuable player of this year’s European Cup tournament.
