ANIMAL ATTRACTION: One good place for a Fourth of July picnic might be sprawling Irvine Regional Park. Its small Orange County Zoo there specializes in animals indigenous to the Southwest. . . . The zoo also helps those in need. For example, it’s home to two of the red foxes removed last year from the bank of the Costa Mesa Freeway extension. It also has four brown pelicans injured during the 1990 Huntington Beach oil spill.
