Superior Reports Record Earnings

Superior Industries International Inc., a Van Nuys-based maker of automobile wheels, reported record earnings for its second quarter, posting net income of $7.6 million, up 76% from $4.3 million a year earlier.
Superior said its revenue for the three months ended June 30 rose 20%, to $86 million from $71.6 million a year earlier. Superior attributed the gains to improved efficiency and stronger demand from the automotive industry.
For the first half of this year, Superior posted a profit of $13.2 million on revenue of $159.3 million. A year earlier, Superior earned $6 million on revenue of $126.7 million.
