*** Jim Hall, “Subsequently,” Musicmasters. This Hall outing is considerably more appealing. Backed by a first-rate rhythm team that includes the talented Larry Goldings on keyboards, Hall plays with a fire and enthusiasm that have not always been part of his improvisational past. Especially interesting is his use of unusual strumming techniques on the title track.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
