GOLDEN CHANCE: Democratic vice presidential candidate Al Gore speaks to Golden West College students in Huntington Beach today. How did the community college pull off this coup? Says school spokeswoman Lori Thomas: “It started with faxing a map. . . . Gore’s people were looking at several colleges in the area. Last Friday they were impressed with our beautiful grounds. But when they met our president, Judith Valles, I saw the twinkle in their eye. I think she really sold them.”
