COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Men Finish First in Cross-Country

Shaun Nichols and Shawn Cummins finished first and second in the men’s cross-country race to lead Fullerton to the team championship at the Golden West Invitational Saturday at Central Park in Huntington Beach.
Nichols covered the four-mile course in 20 minutes 57 seconds. Cummins finished one second behind.
Fullerton won with 34 points to Long Beach City’s 37.
Golden West was second in the women’s team competition with 43 points behind first-place Whittier (29). Lana Atchley and Carrie Hovinetzc finished first and second for the Rustlers.
At the UC Riverside women’s cross-country invitational:
Irvine Valley wins--Irvine Valley dominated the Division IV race, as Stacey Skeie, Debra Deming, Donna Proia and Angela Chavez finished second through fifth.
Saddleback’s Sonya Hildarbrand won, completing the 5,000-meter course in 18:55. Saddleback finished second in the team race.
At the San Diego Mesa water polo tournament:
Saddleback splits--The Gauchos (6-7) defeated El Camino, 12-4, and lost to Palomar, 10-8, in two consolation-round matches. Trevor Rodin and Kevin Smith each scored six goals in the two matches for Saddleback.
