LOS ANGELES : Moratorium Approved on Hotel Demolitions
- Share via
The Los Angeles City Council approved a moratorium Wednesday on the demolition of hotels that provide housing to low-income residents.
The one-year moratorium will preserve more than 160 hotels that provide affordable housing to approximately 5,000 residents. A similar moratorium enacted in 1989 expired two weeks ago. The council tentatively approved the replacement ordinance the same day, but officials feared that hotel owners would tear down their buildings.
